Step 8 - Managing Desktops

Sharetops is a multi-desktop system allowing the user to work with up to fifty desktops. Each desktop can have its own set of icons, windows and theme.

Managing desktops is done via the Manage Desktops Sharetops menu. Selecting Manage Desktops from the Sharetops main menu will open the Manage Desktops dialog, as shown below:

The Manage Desktops dialog lists all of your desktops for the current Sharetop. Double clicking the name of one of the desktops allows you to change its name (This name will appear in the bottom left hand corner of desktop).

A number of buttons are shown down the right hand side of the dialog, their functionality is listed below:

  • Switch To – Switches to the currently selected desktop
  • Move Up - Moves the currently selected desktop up in the desktop order list
  • Move Down - Moves the currently selected desktop down in the desktop order list
  • Clone – Creates a clone (or copy) of the currently selected desktop, including all of its links and settings
  • Add New – Creates and adds a new blank desktop
  • Remove – Removes the currently selected desktop
  • Settings – Opens up the currently selected desktops settings
