Ok, so you’ve created the greatest looking Sharetop in history but how do you let others see it? The easiest way to do this is to select the “Publish” option from the Sharetops Main Menu, but before you do that, there are a few things you need to be aware of:
- Any items that you have marked as public are visible to everyone that visits your Sharetop, so please “DO NOT” store confidential information such as important passwords or credit card details on your desktops. Note that all items that you add to your Sharetops are by default set to public. You can change an items privacy setting by changing the privacy property in the desktop icons “Edit Properties” section
- Any items that you have marked as friend are visible to everyone on your friends list
- You are solely responsible for any content that you add to your Sharetops
- In order for others to find your Sharetop and to see what your Sharetop is all about, you need to set the Sharetops info in the Sharetop settings dialog
To access the Sharetops Settings dialog, select Settings from the Sharetops main menu; the Sharetops settings dialog will pop open. From this dialog expand the Sharetops Info tree; it will look something like the example shown below:
In this dialog you can set up a number of important pieces of information about your Sharetop.
The title, description and preview image will be displayed on the Sharetops web site when other web users browse or search for Sharetops. Please note that the preview image should be 160x120 pixels in size. If the image is any larger then it will be squashed to fit x 160x120 pixel area. This information is also written into the Meta tags of your Sharetop web page to enable you to submit your Sharetops to search engines such as Google.
The tags field is used by the Sharetops website search engine to allow users to easily find Sharetops that match a certain search criteria. You can enter as many comma separated tags as you like as long as the total number of characters do not exceed 1000.
Please think about your search tags very careful and choose search tags that are closely related to the content of your Sharetops. Please do not include search tags that have no relevance to your Sharetop as this can skew search results, doing so can result in your search tags being removed.
