A reminders list allows you to create a list of tasks that need to be completed by specific dates or at regular intervals. The system will alert you when a reminder is due by popping open a small reminder dialog in the middle of the screen.
To add a reminders list to the desktop:
- Select the “Add Item” option from the Sharetops main menu. This will open up the “Add new Desktop Item” dialog
- From “Add new Desktop Item” dialog select the “Reminders List” type then press the “Add” button
- Enter the title and description of the reminders list into the “Add New Reminders List” dialog that pops up then click the Create button
- An icon that represents your reminders list will now appear on the desktop
- Double click the new icon to open up your new reminders list
Once created and opened your reminders list will resemble something like the image shown below:
As you can see from the above image, reminders are listed in a grid format containing
- Active status – A check box that defines the active status of this reminder. To de-activate this reminder (but not delete it) simply uncheck the active check box
- A reminder message – This message will be shown when the reminder dialog pops up on screen
- Start Date – This is the date that you would like the system to begin sending you reminders. To change the date, double click the date then select the small calendar icon that appears next to the date; a date selector will pop open, now select the required reminder start date by clicking on a day in the calendar
- Start Time – This is the time of day that you would like the system to start reminding you. Note that the start time uses a 24 hour clock format
- Repeat flag – When checked the system will remind you of the reminder at regular intervals
- Repeat Interval – If the repeat flag is checked then the system will remind you of the reminder at this interval. The interval is specified in Days : Hours : Minutes format. For example, if you would like the system to remind you of a task every 4 hours and 30 minutes then you would set the interval to 0:4:30. As another example, setting the interval to 365:0:0 will remind you every year
By clicking the column headers you can sort the tasks to suit your needs.
To add a new reminder to the reminders list simply click the “Add New” button that is situated to the bottom left of the window
To remove reminders from the reminders list simply click on the red delete button that is situated in the column to the left of the Active column.
